Macaroons @ Lamont's Wine Store Cottesloe

Ah, the macaroon. Winking away at me like colourful jewels on a plate, these were imported from France by Lamont's Wine Store Cottesloe and totally looked the goods. With light, crunchy shells and delicate, slightly chewy praline fillings they came in flavours of mango, blueberry, vanilla, raspberry and rose water. LWSC manager Jeri was right when she said they were moreish: I had three and could easily have scoffed half a dozen more. Duncan, macaroon aficionado that you are, my thoughts were with you.

ETA: I profiled Lamont's Cottesloe for Your Restaurants, here

These look delightful. Some how I can't see Kate tucking into one herself though... It seems a fanciful fodder for someone so discerningly savoury.

I do wonder if she's gone for the big guns with some Pierre Hermé stuff... though I would imagine they'd say it on the menu if they were.

Lovely photos Jen... very schmick :)

Ah, the macaroon. Winking away at me like colourful jewels on a plate - such a poetic and apt description.

Hi Cynthia, many thanks. They were so pretty I had some more last night..! I think I'm converted.

Sorry to be coming to this a little late! I was about to write that these are the best-looking (most regular, correctly formed) macarons I've seen commercially in Aus... and then I noticed that they were imported. I would guess these are a frozen product which I've heard mention of from a Sydney pastry chef. (Macarons can freeze well, so maybe we'll see more of these imports around the place.)

Hi Duncan, I see your search continues for the great Aussie macaron. Maybe Darwin next?

Those macaroons look lovely. There's a review about Lamont's Cottesloe in today's STM somewhere, if you're interested. :)

Hi Angie. Dang! I missed it. It could only have been good, it's way too high-brow for the STM to bag. I just did a profile on it for Your Restaurants too. They rock.

I visited Pierre Herme in Paris earlier this year, without doubt the king of macarons.

Have a look at http://www.pierreherme.com.

Hi! I chanced upon your blog and am gobsmacked by your beautiful photos and reviews. They come in especially handy since I too am living in Perth. I just had to say thanks for this particular entry on macarons. I've been living here for the past 6 years and never knew where to find macarons except for Scents of Taste in Mt Lawley that offer them every occasional Saturday. I am definitely paying Lamont's in Cott a visit soon!
